The grain options and classic toasts offer the customer a range of barrels that suit all wine styles. A.P. John offers a ‘house toast’ as standard however other toasts are available on request.
This Quercus Petraea oak is selected from the Allier and other forests in central France.

Oak Seasoned at the French mills for 36 months receiving an annual average precipitation of 1000mm (and snow in some cases) prior to shipment to our cooperage in the Barossa. After taking delivery, the oak spends another four-to-six months conditioning, to stabilise the moisture content in our cooperage facilities, which further enhances the unique properties.
The classic toast for this barrel is our medium (traditional) level.

A maximum of 10.5% moisture content is maintained throughout manufacture. This is the natural moisture content experienced across South Eastern Australia which ensures minimal shrinkage and provides exceptional sealing properties resulting in negligible leakage. Our barrels are not water tested prior to shipping.
